A study of transverse bowing defect in cold roll-forming asymmetric corrugated channels

The transverse bowing greatly affects the accuracy of roll-forming asymmetric corrugated channels (ACC). In order to control this defect, paper first elucidates its mechanism production. Then, is explored by finite element method (FEM) using ABAQUS 2016 software and effects forming parameters are analyzed. Also, a linear regression model built Minitab 19 evaluate their effects, which standard values measured Pareto chart. It observed that number has greatest effect, followed roll gap bending angle, friction coefficient least. Finally, decrease defect (TBD), dominant optimized according evaluation results operating conditions. And simulation optimization verified experiments, respectively. This research shows TBD can be controlled through three including gap, inter-station distance for given ACC.
